Covid-19 Protocols for Wooden Button Families

2022-23*

Our school is in a community based on mutual trust. We all must work together to take care of our own and each other’s health. Below are the protocols we are putting in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. When you register your child for a program with The Wooden Button, you are agreeing to abide by these protocols—including updates and modifications if the need arises.

1.     Masks/face coverings are optional for all teachers and children (age 2+) during school, except during snack. Parents and caregivers will also be required to wear masks at drop off and pickup. A mask will be provided to an adult or child who comes to school without one.

4.     Symptoms of Covid-19 from CDC that preclude attendance:

a.     Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

b.     If anyone in the household presents symptoms, parents should consider keeping their child(ren) home from school until Covid-19 can be ruled out.

5.     Return to School. Any individual showing signs of COVID-19 can only return to school when all the following conditions in a, b, or c below are met:

a.     Received a positive COVID-19 test AND

                                               i.     Isolated for 10 days AND

ii.     Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND

iii.     The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication. OR

b.     Received a negative COVID-19 test AND

                                               i.     Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND

ii.     The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication. OR

c.     Never got a COVID-19 test AND

                                               i.     At least 10 days since symptoms started AND

ii.     Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND

iii.     The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

6.     Quarantine is not required after an exposure to a Covid-positive person unless the child has symptoms. The child should wear a mask (not cloth) for 10 calendar days to school starting the day after their last exposure. If still asymptomatic, the child may remove the mask. (Close contact is defined by the CDC as being within 6 feet of a Covid-19 positive individual for 15 minutes, whether masked or not.)

7.  Quarantine following positive Covid test. A child who has tested positive for Covid-19 must quarantine for 5 calendar days starting the day after the positive test. If the child's symptoms are improving and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication, they may return to school if they wear a mask (not cloth) for 5 more calendar days.

7.     Handwashing

a.     Before snack, each child will wash her or his hands under supervision; the children/teachers first wipe their hands thoroughly with a wet wipe, followed by hand sanitizer.

8.     Snack

a.     Midway through the morning children and teachers sit together for snack, provided by the school (sandwiches, fresh fruits and vegetables, and herbal tea). The teachers will have prepared the food in advance and will serve the individual portions to each child. Parents are welcome to send a snack in their child’s backpack if they would prefer.

b.     Children will be directed not to share food or beverages.

9.     Protocol in case of a positive Covid-19 case in the group.

                                               i.     Parents are required to report to director a positive Covid-19 diagnostic test

ii.     The school is required to tell families if a positive case has been confirmed.

1.     Families of students who are confirmed close contacts of the positive case will receive a letter stating that their child has been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, so their child should start wearing a mask for 10 calendar days

2.     Families of students who are not considered close contacts will receive a letter stating that there was a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the school but that their child is not considered a close contact therefore there is no need to mask.

If you are ever uncertain about the health of your child and coming to school, please call Iggy to discuss. This might be symptoms related to Covid 19 or other illnesses.
