2024 Summer Forest School

Summer Forest School 2024: June 24 - July 19

It's time to enroll for our summer session of Forest School!

Summer forest school runs June 24 - July 19.

The Mixed-Age summer forest school allows all the children to play, interact and learn together, but the hours are different for the nursery-age and preschool-age children:

  • Nursery age (2s): 9:30 am to 12:30 pm ($105/wk for T and Th + $25 registration fee per family)
  • Preschool age (3-5s): 8:45 am to 1:00 pm ($340/wk for M-F + $25 registration fee per family)

Our morning schedule will mostly be the same as it is during our school year:

  • After the younger children arrive we will have our morning circle.
  • Snack all together at 10:30 am.
  • At 11:40 we join together for a goodbye circle before the nursery children are guided back to the park entrance to be picked up.
  • In between the children will sing, have a movement circle, play with each other, climb, run, roll, and dig with sand and sticks.

Are you interested in having your child participate? Please email us and we'll get the process started.

This class provides a loving bridge for children between the Child-Parent/Caregiver class and our older forest day class, but the Child – Parent/Caregiver class is not a prerequisite for nursery.

Like in preschool, children explore, play, and imagine outdoors for the entire morning. The nursery class is smaller and moves at a little slower pace. The class is a little more protective, allowing the children at their tender age to have a safe environment to grow and form attachments with each other and their teachers. In nursery they develop self-confidence for their next steps.

New Session of Outdoor Parent/Caregiver-Child Class 10/13/20-11/5/20

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-11:30 AM

ages 9m-36m

Fort Tryon Park

Children explore in nature, build motor-skills and language, and socialize within a comfortable distance from caregivers. With the gentle guidance of our experienced teacher, children and caregivers will learn new skills, and caregivers will have time for questions and open discussions with the support of Waldorf-inspired parenting articles.

In a safe and nurturing environment, children play with things from the natural world that allow and encourage the use of imagination. We strive for an 'extended-family’ or community atmosphere as children gradually interact more with their peers or start to engage in the nursery rhymes, finger plays, and simple songs.
